Step 7: Clean Up The Wood And Glue The Two Halves Together
After cutting both halves of the die board, the two pieces are put together. First, we use an automatic sander to grind down any uneven sections caused by wearing of the bits. Second, we blow out any excess saw dust that may have been left in the section cuts. Third, using highly sensitive pressure glue, we put the two boards together which are evenly aligned with each other by use of registration holes that were cut on the Gerber. After the wood is put together, it is placed inside a giant size pressure vacuum. Inside the vacuum, the air is quickly sucked out causing extreme pressure on the wood where it is left until the glue has dried. This creates a strong hold between the two boards and adds extra strength to your dies.
